Kostenloses SAAC Lawinencamp
diesen Winter hier in deinem Top Spot
Wahre „Checker“ wissen längst, dass zu den Wintervorbereitungen auch ein Update in Sachen Lawinenkunde und Risikomanagement gehört. Denn neben dem Carven auf den Pisten, locken an einem wunderschönen Ski- oder Boardtag auch das Backcountry und der Powder. Dann muss man wissen, worauf es im Gelände ankommt.
Für die Basis-Ausbildung und das Update der Freerider in Sachen Risikominimierung sieht sich der Verein zur Information über alpine Gefahren seit über 10 Jahren verantwortlich. Kennern der Szene braucht man den Verein mit seinen kostenlosen SAAC Basic Lawinencamps nicht mehr vorstellen. Jedes Jahr stürmen über 1.000 Skifahrer und Snowboarder die Camps. Alle wollen einen der 50 begehrten Plätze pro Termin ergattern.
Deshalb geht diese erfolgreiche Initiative im Winter 09/10 weiter und dein Lieblingsspot ist auch wieder mit dabei.

SAAC Basic Camps – das sind 2-tägige Lawinencamps für Basiswissen zur Risikominimierung abseits der gesicherten Pisten. In Theorie und Praxis informieren staatlich geprüfte Berg- und Skiführer über Gefahren und richtige Verhaltensweise im Gelände. Teilnahme und Leihnotfallausrüstung sind kostenlos! Das Liftticket für den Praxistag gibt es zum Spezialpreis.
SAACnd Step Camps - weiterführende Lawinenkunde für Snowboarder und Skifahrer mit Basiswissen. Gemeinsam werden die bevorstehenden Touren vorbereitet, wird Wetter und Lawinenlage analysiert und gelernt Eigenverantwortung am Berg zu übernehmen. Die 31/2 und 51/2 tägigen SAACnd Step Camps gibt’s zu tollen Packagepreisen inkl. Unterkunft.

VÖLKL Snowpark Rally – the alternative photo competition
Mission accomplished!
Last weekend, the participants of the VÖLKL Snowpark Rally proudly announced their “Mission accomplished!“ statement. After three online stages, the finalists of this innovative photo contest had passed the last trials and the winners were determined: the Slovenian Psyhoslo team took victory winning over the German Kannibales crew and the Austrian locals of the Leo-Gang.
The final of the VÖLKL Snowpark Rally at Leogang at ONE BIG PARK Salzburg County, Austria, was the highlight of an online competition that took place over the course of the entire winter season. The participants had to perform several tasks and to shoot pictures fulfilling the demands of the respective mission. Via online video messages, Völkl team riderMarc-André Tarte (CAN) had sent the riders and photographers on their missions. Then, these had to upload their pictures to the event website where the best shots were determined by an online voting. The winning crews of the different missions were invited to the finals at Leogang.
At the finals, the teams again had to shoot a picture matching their task, though now they met Völkl riders Marc-André Tarte and Quentin Robbins (NZL) personally at place and had to deliver their picture within only two days. After the online missions “Jib your friends”, “Back to the roots” and “Action shot”, the final task was: “Greetings from Leogang – a postcard you would really like to send to someone“. On the first day, all teams checked the location enjoying perfect conditions and bluebird skies. On Saturday, they took the pictures and designed the postcards on their computers. In doing so, the Kannibales (GER), the local Leo-Gang (AUT) and the Psyhoslo Crew (SLO) showed a lot of creativity but also high-octane riding – making it even more
difficult for the jury with the two Völkl pros, photographers Alex Papis and Patrick „Paco“ Reich and snow park designer Tommi “Mellow” Marsh to nominate the winners.
In the end, the judges voted for the postcard provided by the Slovenians Nejc Slatner, Matej Gostincar and Jakob Pavli who put in everything from the old-school Method Air to up-to-date snowboard action and Leogang nostalgia. The Psyhoslos won a trip to the Völkl Summer Surf Camp at Seignosse (FRA). Second place went to the Austrian Leo-Gang with Mike Pilko, Stefan Pilko and Johannes Peerlinger; the Kannibales with Simon Friedel, Alexander Becker and Johannes Schaal took third. Both teams won outerwear and snowboards by Völkl.

Perfekt geshapter Park, gutes Wetter, viel Spaß und Snowboarding auf höchstem Niveau; das war das Nitro Spring Camp 2009 im Nitro-Snowpark in Leogang.
Alex Bergmann und Niko Pfanzelt vom deutschen Nitro-Team, sowie viele weitere Spring-Camp Teilnehmer hatten eine gute Woche vom 04.04.09 bis 12.04.09 in Leogang.
Erwin und Reini, Shaper des Snowparks in Leogang, machten einen super Job und sorgten, trotz zunehmenden Slush, dafür, dass Kicker, Rails und Boxen immer perfekt da standen.
Wir freuen uns schon auf nächstes Jahr und können Dir nur empfehlen, falls Du nicht da warst, das nächstjährige Nitro Spring Camp in Deinen Event-Kalender 2010 mit auf zu nehmen!

Last Monday (16.03.2009) 15 enthusiastic skifans were on the way together with Ex-skistar Marc Girardelli at our Skicircus.
"Jochen Schweizer Erlebnisgeschenke" was the organisator of this ski adventure and they went through the whole Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang. After the skirace at the permanent racepist at the Almlift in Leogang the day ended at the skihut "Alten Schmiede" at the Asitz.

Am Abend des 4. März (Mittwoch) reisten 14 motivierte Teilnehmer aus Österreich und Deutschland, darunter fünf Mädels, nach Leogang-Ullach zum Bergbauernhof Mitterbrandhof der Familie Müllauer an, um bei der risk’n’fun-Session der Alpenvereinsjugend dabei zu sein.
Nun haben die Snowboarder und Schifahrer gemeinsam mit den Trainern Christian Sonnleitner und Gitti Köck, Olympiamedaillengewinnerin von Nagano 1998, und dem Bergführer Axel Trattner bereits zwei Tage im Schnee verbracht.
Der eine oder andere Muskelkater machte sich bemerkbar, blaue Flecken wurde gezählt, doch der guten Stimmung schadeten diese Dinge nicht. Dank der Schneemassen konnten bisher massig Lines in den Tiefschnee gezogen werden. Diese trösteten über kürzere und manchmal doch etwas längere Hikes hinweg.
Zwischen den Abfahrten gibt es immer wieder spannende Übungen, die die Teilnehmer zum Beispiel über das eigene Risikoverhalten am Berg nachdenken lassen.
Bei der allabendlichen Theorieeinheit wurde am Freitagabend in Kleingruppen eine Strategie zur Risikooptimierung ausgearbeitet. Dabei wurde bisher Gelerntes und Erlebtes auf Papier gebracht und präsentiert. Diese Strategie ist für die motivierten Schneesportler gleichzeitig der rote Faden des Samstags.
Ziel einer risk’n’fun-Trainingssession ist es, dass jeder Teilnehmer für sich am Ende des Kurses mit einer eigenen Strategie zur Risikooptimierung heimfährt.
Der richtige Umgang mit LVS-Geräten, Schaufel und Sonde wird ebenso trainiert wie das Achten auf Warnzeichen und das richtige Abschätzen einer Hangneigung.

Südländisches Temperament und winterliche Mountainbike Action
30.01.2009 – Zirca 1500 Zuschauer feierten bei Flutlicht am Leoganger Schanteihang Europas beste Freestyle-Mountainbiker und ihre spektakulären Trickeinlagen. Der 20-jährige Spanier Andreu Lacondeguy zeigte die höchsten Sprünge und gewann souverän. Bester Österreicher wurde der Innsbrucker Niki Leitner auf Platz zehn.
Die 23 internationalen Konkurrenten aus 13 Nationen gaben auf dem rutschigen Schnee alles, um sich gegeneinander zu beweisen. Eine Vielzahl von Sprüngen lieferte den Zuschauern im Zehn-Sekunden-Takt Flugeinlagen bis zu einer Höhe von acht Metern über dem Boden. Rotationen um die eigene Körperachse, Vorwärts und Rückwärtssaltos in unterschiedlichsten Variationen standen hierbei auf der Tagesordnung. Andreu Lacondeguy aus Barcelona wusste es die groß dimensionierten Schneerampen am besten zu nutzen. Der Hobby Motocross Fahrer ist an weite und hohe Sprünge mit langen Flugphasen bestens gewohnt. Ein klarer Vorteil gegenüber seinen Mitbewerbern. 1800 Euro sind der Löhn für seine Mühen. Zweiter wurde der Brite Lance McDermott, welcher einen spektakulären, freihändigen Vorwärtssalto über den größten Sprung zeigte. Der Deutsche Amir Kabbani folgte auf Platz drei – der Leoganger Anton Hörl schaffte es leider nicht ins Finale:

Trond Hansen - The Winner of the Nissan White Style presented by Kona

On Saturday, February 2nd, the third anniversary of the Nissan White Style presented by Kona showcased sizzling international mountain bike freeride action in Leogang, Austria.
The riders ripped the perfectly shaped slopestyle course until the late evening. Trond Hansen from Norway won the contest by showing the crowd a trick loaded run with lots of style. But also the other competitors surprised the spectators with amazing riding performance.
After the arrival on Friday the 22 riders out of eight countries were able to test and ride the well and diversified shaped course of Grant Fielder for the first time. Two big sized doubles right after the start were followed by a huge berm and the very technical satellite dish. The challenge went on into the step-up /step-down box providing a 12ft. drop/road gap which the riders had to launch over the Nissan truck. After this tricky obstacle the last double marked the end of the course. The riders had lots of airtime over the last jump and the spectators enjoyed the great variation of tricks.

Leogang, in partnership with the SAAC (Snow Awareness and Avalanche Camp), is organising a free 2-day avalanche awareness camp. The camp offers basic knowledge of the risks of alpine terrain and practical tips for off-piste adrenalin freaks. Mountain guides and snowboard professionals at the camp impart advice on the dangers of skiing or snowboarding away from the safety of the pistes.
The first day of SAAC Basic Camp begins with a ca. 3-hour theory session. On the second day, small groups of participants will be taken into off-piste terrain by certified ski and mountain guides.
The SAAC Basic Camp is free of charge. Emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe) can also be borrowed free of charge.
The SAAC Basic Camp is open to anyone over 13 years with sufficient skills to ride off-piste. It is advised to register early as the course only has a limited number of places.

For those without a season pass, please bring a € 2,-- deposit to the theory session for a keycard.

Equipment to bring along for the practice day
Ski or snowboarding equipment and backpack. If you have you own personal avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe it would also be useful to bring these along.
Lift ticket for the practice day
The ski lift ticket for the practice day is available at a discounted price of € 15,00. Please pay this sum within 2 week of registration to the following bank account.
If payment for the lift ticket is not received within 2 weeks, we will unfortunately have to offer your place to someone else.
If you already have a valid season pass for this ski area, please tick (or click) the appropriate box on the registration form. Naturally, in this case, you will not have to transfer any money for a lift ticket. Participants who pay via bank transfer will receive their lift ticket from their respective SAAC guide at the designated meeting point on practice day.

WONDERFUL WINTER WORLD Saalfelden and Leogang capture a magical winter world under the motto "Snow: Flurry" which opens this year´s ski season on the 8th December 2007.
"Snow:Flurry" is held over two days (8th & 9th December 2007) in sometimes unusual locations in the valley and on the mountain. The young and talented Saalfelden musicians will capture you in the ski huts with their mixture of jazz, rock and conventional world of sound.
The highlight of this winter opening is the evening entertainment "Wonderful Winter World" on the 8th December at 7pm. A diversified and seemly unique show programme with well-known actors, performers and musicians is awaiting the on-lookers and guests….
