More than 2.7 million people are wheelchair-bound due to a spinal cord injury. Every year approximately 130.000 people get the shattering diagnosis “paraplegia”, in most cases after traffic- or household accidents.
The objective of Wings for Life is well-defined: making spinal paralysis curable.
In order to achieve this goal, the Austrian foundation has made the financial support of the research projects of the most renowned international scientists in the field of spinal cord research its business.
The raffle emerged on the initiative of Bikepark Leogang in cooperation with Kona Bicycles.
Kona supports a total of 20 bike parks on an international level, among them also the Bikepark Leogang. This one consists of over eight different, fully primed downhill-tracks for anyone. Bikepark Leogang offers the appropriate facilities to both families and adrenaline addicts. Due to the well-balanced program, Bikepark Leogang was awarded the seal “Kona Groove Approved Bikepark” (
www.konabikeparks.com).
With this campaign Bikepark Leogang and Kona Bicycles intend to attract a great deal of attention for the Wings for Life Foundation, whose goal not only is to make spinal cord injury curable but also to develop suitable preventive measures in order to lower the risk of injury in sports.
